Floods

Unfortunately I never got a chance to takes pictures of my uncle's house, because when I went back the next day I could not get down his street! The water had rose that much! We haven't had much rain in the past couple of days so hopefully the water level starts to go back down. The clean up process will still take a while though. I haven't been there in a while, I should go check it out tomorrow and see how everything is. GOD BLESS ALL OF THE FLOOD VICTIMS!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the daddy's out there!

Mike went fishing all day with Damian, my dad, my brother, and my nephew. I was left at home to rot with Dominick so we spent the day with my mom. Kaylee was with her dad. To be honest I was kind of irritated that we never got invited. I would have liked to spend the day with Mike and my father, but at least they had a good time!

What a flooding disaster!

I live in Illinois and the Rock River runs through my town. We have gotten so much rain lately it's unbelievable. Every day I kid you not there are flood warnings all over my T.V. screen, although I don't really think any thing of them because I don't live on the river or that close to it that it would really affect me. ( Although I should because my road gets flooded into my yard, because the damn city won't have it fixed, but that's another story!) So, I really had no idea how bad all this flooding really is.

Today my mom called my husband begging him to come help my uncle move all of his belongings out of his house because the river is so high it's about to come into the house. He had to move everything including the fridge in fear that the water would come in and destroy it all. Mind you he has an 8 foot sea wall and the water
has rose all the way over that up into his yard!

When my husband was finished he came home and told me it was really bad. The worst flood he has ever seen in this area! Still after hearing all this I still couldn't believe that it was really that bad! I'm the type that has to see it to believe it.

My sister in law and I decided to go check it out for ourselves. As we were driving along the streets where the flood was taking place, I could not believe what I was seeing. It was flooded 3 blocks away from the river on the opposite side of it! The road wasn't flooded in that area but there were yards so flooded that kids were actually floating on rafts in there yard! As we were driving closer to the river it of course got much worse. Some of the houses were already starting to flood! In attempt to get the water out people had huge sub pumps in there houses with hoses going out to the road and the water was just spewing out of them.

We finally reached my uncles house. My poor uncle! Just talking to him about this was breaking my heart. What do you say in a situation like this? I'm sorry? Well, duh! What good hearted person wouldn't be sorry? Just 3 houses down from my uncle the road was completely flooded out. The water was up to the windows on the houses. People were actually letting there children swim in that nasty mess!

I really wish I could do something to help! I don't have much time or money to donate. I know that sounds selfish, but I can not drag my 3 children into that mess. That would do more harm then good. I'm just glad that I have such an awesome husband. He got off work early today and spent it helping the flood victims!

I didn't have my camera on me today, but I am going back tomorrow to take pictures and I'll post them on here.

Go for a walk!

Tonight when my husband got home I caught him staring at my stomach. Well, if you know me you know that I hate when people stare at me! So. I was quietly thinking to myself I mean yelling out loud "If you have something to say then say it, if I'm that beautiful that you can't take you're eyes off my jelly rolls then take a picture, what the heck are you staring at?!" He finally removed his eyes from my stomach looked up at me and said, " You're getting a belly, you should take the kids and the dog for a walk every morning." Is he serious? Oh dear God I think he has just lost his freaking mind! SURE HONEY, EVERY MORNING AFTER I WAKE UP AND CHANGE THE BABIES ROTTEN DIAPER, AFTER I FEED HIM, AFTER I MAKE KAYLEE BREAKFAST, AFTER I TELL KAYLEE 500 TIMES THAT SHE CAN'T GO SWIMMING BECAUSE DAD IS MAKING US GO FOR A WALK I MEAN BECAUSE WE HAVE TO WALK BECAUSE MY BELLY IS TURNING INTO JELLY, AFTER I TAKE A SHOWER BECAUSE GOD KNOWS I AM NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE WITH MY HAIR LOOKING LIKE MEDUSA, AFTER I CLEAN THE HOUSE, AND DO THE 40 LOADS OF LAUNDRY WE HAVE EVERY DAY , I WILL TIE THE DOG TO MY WASTE WHILE HOLDING ON TO THE STROLLER, AND LET HIM DRAG US DOWN THE STREET BECAUSE BY THEN I HAVE NO ENERGY!! Ugh, what the heck is wrong with him? OK, I agree walking is good for you, and MAYBE my stomach does need to be tightened up a little bit, but why can't we walk together? C'mon Tiny, you're bigger then me, you could afford to shed a few pounds too! Why does he expect me to drag all 3 kids out and as if that's not enough the dog too, by myself? Tomorrow night when he gets off work you can bet you're butt he's going walking with me and our circus. I mean our wonderful kids! You better watch what you say there buddy! I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR!!

How about those grades?

On Monday Damian ( my 12 year old step son) received his last report card for the 6th grade! He's been grounded since the 2nd quarter in school for his bad grades. He's not a dumb kid by any means. He just doesn't apply himself. He's our lover boy. He'd rather be passing love notes and showing off then paying attention and doing his work.
We told him if he didn't get any grades lower then a "C" then he could be ungrounded for the summer. When he got home from his last day of school I was ready to hear his famous excuses : I forgot it at school, I was the only kid in the whole school that didn't get one, it must have magically disappeared out of my back pack, the excuses are endless. This time though he came right in and handed me his report card. I almost died! I screamed, " What have you done with my son? Where are all the excuses?" Damian of course rolled his eyes and said,"Just look at it and tell me if I'm ungrounded!" I pulled the little piece of paper out of the envelope. I was impressed with what I saw! He didn't get straight "A's" or even one "A", but he did improve allot!

Yummy in my tummy!

I know everybody has tasted the yummy corn dogs that they have at the fair! So you all should know what I'm talking about, if not then this is your lucky day! Tonight I felt creative so I made home made corn dogs and they tasted just like the ones from the fair. The way they looked is a different story. Next time I'll have to work on the appearance! The next time you get a craving for a corn dog and it's the middle of winter, no fairs are in site , and a frozen one just won't due, try this recipe. Sense I love recipes and trying new things, if you do use this recipe please leave me one to try! Hey I could be starting a new blog trend, I mean I hope I'm starting a new blog trend! If you don't have a recipe or don't want to leave me one, please just let me know if you liked it!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal ( I used JIFFY corn muffin mix )
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 10 Popsicle sticks or 10 5cm x 30cm doll rods ( I used 10 doll rods cut down to size. They're cheaper and fit better.)
  • 10 hot dogs
  • deep fryer

Directions: In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour and egg. Stir in milk to make a thick batter. Let stand 4 minutes. Insert sticks into hot dogs, dip in batter.Heat oil to 375°. Fry corn dogs until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes. Drain on paper towel.

Kids say the darndest things!

*Episode One*
I was in the bathroom, my four month old Dominick and my four year old daughter Kaylee were in the living room. Dominick started fussing and Kaylee tried to comfort him. She started singing, "HUSH LITTLE BABY DON'T SAY A WORD, MAMA'S GONNA BUY YOU A HUMMING BIRD, IF THAT HUMMING BIRD DON'T SING, I'M GONNA CHOKE IT AND THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE!!" I overheard her and she made me laugh so hard! I don't encourage or allow my children to harm animals in anyway, so please don't get the wrong idea. I just thought it was funny because she didn't know the whole verse so she made up her own. After I stopped laughing I went into the living room and told her choking humming birds isn't nice, and I sung her the correct version of the song!
